Where to Stay

Canada Vineyard Hotels: Niagara & Okanagan Wine Country Stays (2026)

Canada’s two great wine regions — Niagara-on-the-Lake and the Okanagan Valley — both let you sleep on the vineyard. Our pick of estate inns and winery resorts across Ontario and British Columbia.

Canada’s wine country splits between two very different climates, and both reward staying on the estate. Niagara-on-the-Lake, on the Niagara Peninsula in Ontario, is cool-climate country moderated by Lake Ontario and the escarpment, world-famous for Icewine made from grapes frozen on the vine. The Okanagan Valley in British Columbia runs from Kelowna south to the near-desert of Oliver and Osoyoos — hot, dry and lake-moderated, with bold reds and aromatic whites.

Both regions have wineries and resorts set right on the vineyards, often steps from the tasting room and restaurant. Below are the stays worth booking in each, grouped by region.

Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario

A cool-climate region minutes from the heritage old town and the Shaw Festival, best known for Icewine — the late-harvest specialty made from grapes picked frozen on the coldest winter nights.

Riverbend Inn & Vineyard

A Georgian-mansion inn set among its own vineyards on the edge of Niagara-on-the-Lake, adjoining Peller Estates land. It has 21 rooms and suites surrounded by vines, with an on-site dining room; Andrew Peller acquired it in 2021 along with the contiguous vineyard acreage.

Quick facts

  • Location: Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario
  • Estate type: Mansion inn among its own vineyards (21 rooms)
  • Nearest airport: Toronto Pearson (YYZ, ~1h20); Buffalo (BUF) closer

Vineland Estates Winery

Two lodgings on the working Vineland Estates vineyard in the Niagara Benchlands — a one-bedroom B&B cottage and a three-bedroom estate guest house — both within walking distance of the winery restaurant. The cottage stay includes wine and a self-catering breakfast.

124 on Queen Hotel & Spa (in town — near, not on, the vines)

Not a vineyard property, but the pick for staying in the old town. A spa hotel on Queen Street steps from the Shaw Festival, with a spa and the Treadwell restaurant; it partners with Peller Estates for guest perks.

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia

A long, lake-moderated valley running south into Canada’s only true desert around Oliver and Osoyoos. Hot, dry summers and big day-to-night temperature swings produce bold reds and aromatic whites, with many wineries set right on the vineyards above Okanagan Lake.

Spirit Ridge (Unbound Collection by Hyatt)

An all-suite resort on the vineyards at Osoyoos, with the Nk’Mip Cellars winery on the grounds and frontage on Osoyoos Lake. There’s a desert spa, a golf course, a private beach and several on-site restaurants — a full resort base in the South Okanagan.
